As the rain poured down, the Eagles tallied nine hits Saturday as they fought for a Regional title. They jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Johnny Fantauzzo started things off with a single to left-center. Jake Miller moved Fantauzzo over to second so that he could score on Ben Mets’ RBI single to left. Max Tomaszewski shot one down the third base line for a single and Nick Hartley’s single to right field scored Mets. Peyton Medovarsky pushed in two more runs with a double to centerfield putting Ike up 4-0 at the bottom of the first. Unfortunately, Brother Rice responded with six runs of their own in the second inning.
The rain continued to come down throughout the game causing a delay so that the field crew could groom the infield for the game to continue. Despite the weather conditions of the day, the Ike parents and fans were in attendance as usual to show support for their Eagles through the bottom of the ninth.
It was a successful season for this varsity team playing for a new coaching staff. The boys worked hard, showed respect and followed the guidance of Head Coach Steve Spisak and Assistant Coach Dan Tallant. Thank you to the coaches for all of the hard work and dedication you gave to the boys.
Best wishes and good luck to the seniors who will be moving on to bigger and better things! Thank you to all of Ike Varsity Baseball for providing the parents and fans with a great season of baseball!
